Dear Members of Chapter 153 – Welcome to your new website.
My name is Lakhwinder “Lucky” Singh and I have been your President since December 2017. I started my career with CBP in 2008 at the Port of Newark. After two years in Newark, I transferred to Port of JFK. After being at JFK for a year in 2011, I joined the team at JFK Health and Welfare Fund to build camaraderie. We held many events, raised a lot of money for CBP employees and various different charities. In 2016, I saw a need for a change with our local NTEU Chapter and decided I would run for President in 2017. With the support of our members here at JFK, Shannon and Dublin in Ireland and Abu Dhabi in the UAE, I was elected President. We currently have 17 board members and over 15 Stewards at JFK. We also, have 2 Stewards in Abu Dhabi, 2 In Dublin and 1 in Shannon. It is an honor to be President of this great Chapter. I enjoy being in a position to help all our members and their families when they need us the most.
As many of you know NTEU has a long-standing history of fighting for the rights of all bargaining unit employees. Some of our recent wins include, AWS, Telework, Compressed work schedules, Flexible work Schedules, Global settlement, successful advocacy for paid parental leave, etc. We have successfully fought numerous termination cases, reduction in suspension lengths and majority of cases mitigated to either a letter of reprimand or verbal counseling.
We are here to assist our members through the good and bad.
